CHRIS CORNELL To Unleash His 'Scream' This Fall
July 29, 2008The Pulse of Radio reports: Ex-SOUNDGARDEN and AUDIOSLAVE singer Chris Cornell's third solo album, titled "Scream", will be out this fall, with the exact release date yet to be determined. Several song excerpts recently surfaced online and indicate a very different style for the vocalist. Cornell recorded the disc with famed urban pop producer Timbaland, and told The Pulse of Radio the results surprised him. "Tim lent a lot to what I describe as sort of the psychedelic aspect of this album, kind of a PINK FLOYD or 'Dark Side of the Moon' or almost like a QUEEN 'Night at the Opera' type of a feel to me. That's something I never would have predicted. You know, I would have felt like I would be the one that would try to go into the album-oriented rock world, and really it was Tim's influence on this album that pushed it more in that direction."
Cornell is currently appearing on LINKIN PARK's Projekt Revolution tour, which stops on Wednesday (July 30) in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Timbaland has previously produced albums by MADONNA, JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE, NELLY FURTADO, ASHLEE SIMPSON and many others, in addition to recording his own projects.
Cornell's previous solo album, "Carry On", was released in the spring of 2007. He officially left AUDIOSLAVE earlier that year.
"Carry On" contained his cover of MICHAEL JACKSON's "Beat It", as well as "You Know My Name", his theme song for the 2006 James Bond movie "Casino Royale".
